ORIGINS
The
Trente et quarante is a simple card-game, whose origin
is lost in the mists of time.
He
had a quite great diffusion in 1.300,
in France, during the reign of Charles
VI. The legend tells that its diffusion is due to
a false blind monk (he was not the inventor).
But
it seems that this game was born at least a century
before.
During
the half part of XIX century, he reached many European
Casinos. Always in Fance, first Poisson and Bertand
then, gave to this game somekind of mathematical dignity,
by calculating, with a great approximation (they did
not have a PC), statistical percentages.
This
game is spread upon Europe, even if, in this continent
too, in authorised game rooms, he has got a diffusion
which we can not compare to the one of the queen of
Casino, the roulette;
but it seems that this game is quite diffused in many
non-authorised game rooms
(gambling houses).
